"As a mother with three daughters, "A Star is Born" reminded me of how empowering, carrying my daughters was! Even though I wanted to cherish more, I adhered to the social influence and my toughness became a reflection of carrying on while I was pregnant as if I wasn’t, and getting in and out of the hospital as soon as I could. Back to status quo with a box checked next to childbirth symbolizing “been there, done that!” After developing a true appreciation for my body through self-interest and the practice of Yoga and Pilates, I know I would do it differently when I have another child. A few years ago I met a Doula for the first time in my life. I don’t believe this was a mistake by any means. After having run 6 marathons I had a new appreciation for child birth and delivering a baby in water using breathing techniques now seemed interesting. I questioned why so many women were running from the experience. Is it by pure social influence? We, us women, need to hear the other side. The point of view that I truly now believe is much more empowering. I adore the relationship Brack and Nina Joy have. I think it too should be shared with many, so men can gain an understanding, that if they’d embrace intimate relationships, child birth, and a loving partner, pure joy would surround their lives. It’s like the natural flow of wind chimes or the rhythm of the ocean. Sometimes the sound is still, yet we hang out to hear the music. I have no doubt that Nina Joy is a strong woman, but what I know for sure, is having a supportive partner enhanced her ability to have pain free childbirth. It’s our natural born right to find such beautiful people like Brack and Nina Joy to share our lives with.
